ST PETERSBURG, FL, August 18, 2015 – We at Sun Coast Bariatrics are excited to share that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved ORBERA™ gastric balloon procedure to assist adult patients suffering from obesity – with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 to 40 – in losing and maintaining weight. The ORBERA™ gastric balloon procedure is a safe and effective weight loss solution with 20 years of global experience and real world results. More than 220,000 ORBERA™ gastric balloons have been distributed worldwide in over 80 countries. Sun Coast Bariatrics will be one of the first in the country to offer this new tool in helping people achieve their weight loss goals.

The ORBERA™ gastric balloon procedure is part of the ORBERA™ Managed Weight Loss System. The ORBERA™ gastric non-surgical two-part program includes a gastric balloon filling space in a patient’s stomach to reinforce proper portion control. Data on the ORBERA™ gastric balloon procedure collected in the U.S. clinical trial has shown that within six monthsthe average person lost 3.1 times more weight as compared with diet and exercise alone.

Sun Coast Bariatrics recognizes that obesity is a chronic disease and we are pleased to be able to offer minimally invasive solutions like the ORBERA™ gastric balloon procedure. Procedures like ORBERA™ help transform the lives of patients before their disease progresses and requires more invasive treatment.
